Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumour (TURBT)

A TURBT is a procedure involving removal (or part removal) of a bladder tumour. A special telescope called a ‘resectoscope’ is inserted into the bladder via the urethra, the tumour is then removed piecemeal using a diathermy loop. The procedure is done in hospital under a general anaesthetic and require a minimum one-night stay.
