Excision of Epididymal Cyst

An excision of epididymal cyst is a surgical procedure to remove a bothersome epididymal cyst. It is performed in hospital as a day surgery procedure under a general anaesthetic.

The epididymis sits above and behind the testicle. The epididymis is a tube that carries sperm produced in the testicle to the vas deferens. Cysts are very common in the epididymis and if these become large, they may become uncomfortable. When excising an epididymal cyst it is important to excise the wall of the cyst in its entirety to reduce the risk of the cyst recurring.
